Sol Davis' first ever goal in professional football helped to ease the pain of Mick Harford's departure from Luton as the Hatters thumped Wrexham at Kenilworth Road.
Town spread the goals around through Steve Robinson, Davis, Stephen O'Leary, Steve Howard and Ahmet Brkovic with finishing that former forward Harford would have been proud of.
The visitors netted a consolation near the end when substitute Hector Sam scored with his first touch, but by then the damage had been done.
Hatters' loan goalkeeper Simon Royce, who enjoyed a comfortable debut against the Bantams, suffered a nervous moment for the Town after just seven minutes.
Chris Llewellyn ran on to Curtis Davies' short back pass and crossed for Royce to punch straight to Chris Armstrong, but the former Spurs man somehow put the ball high and wide when faced with an open goal from eight yards out.
Luton instead showed the Dragons how it should be done by taking the lead in the 13th minute.
Kevin Foley's deep cross from the right was headed back by Steve Howard and Robinson nodded home his third of the season into the bottom corner from 10 yards.
Four minutes later Town full back Davis enjoyed a very special moment when he collected Brkovic's cheeky chip over the visiting defence and swept the ball home from close range for his first ever professional goal.
And rampant Hatters made it 3-0 in the 22nd minute when Rowan Vine beat Dennis Lawrence on the right and pulled back for Stephen O'Leary to shoot high into the net from just outside the six yard box for his first of the season.
With Wrexham at sixes and sevens, Town almost hit a fourth when Brkovic crossed for Howard to send a diving header just past the post in the 27th minute.
Robinson then almost ran clear on to Vine's pass in the 35th minute, but was stopped by a super saving tackle from Andy Holt.
Howard was the next Hatter to get in on the goalscoring act two minutes before the break when he played a super ball out wide to Foley on the right and then got in the box to powerfully head the full-back's cross into the top corner from 12 yards for his eighth of the campaign.
Wrexham came out for the second-half with more conviction and Lawrence hit the post in the 56th minute after Ferguson's free-kick.
But Hatters promptly scored a fifth when Foley again crossed for Underwood to see his header parried by Baker allowing Brkovic to nod home his eighth of the season from a yard out.
Wrexham's vocal supporters were finally given something to cheer in the 73rd minute when Lawrence flicked on Ferguson's corner and substitute Hector Sam swept the ball home with his first touch.
