Michael Tonge's penalty snatches Stevenage a huge winA late penalty by Michael Tonge saw Stevenage boost their survival hopes with a 1-0 win at Luton. The experienced midfielder slotted home with five minutes to go after Olly Lee was adjudged to have tripped Ben Kennedy in the area,A desperately poor game saw very few openings early on, Jack Marriott shooting over after Paddy McCourt's mazy run and then Stevenage striker Greg Luer putting a decent opportunity wide.Tonge took aim from 25 yards but shot well over, with the Hatters doing nothing in an attacking sense bar Marriott's cross that deflected into Jamie Jones' hands.Stevenage continued to have the better of the openings, Luer's shot easy for Jonathan Mitchell, while Lee tried from distance, shooting over.In the second half, Town defender Alan Sheehan curled against the crossbar and McCourt rifled just wide, before Marriott shot straight at Jones and, at the other end, Kennedy was off target.Kennedy was then inches away from the far post after Mitchell's clearance rebounded off his own player.Sub Danny Green shot straight at Jones, with fellow replacement Josh McQuoid just failing to turn in his low cross, before Marriott had Luton's best chance with 15 minutes to go when sent clean through, but he was denied by Jones. That miss was to prove costly as Kennedy took a tumble in the area, allowing Tonge to do the rest
