Blackpool's recent good run was ended by an impressive Luton side who grabbed their first away win since August.
Midfielder Steve Robinson's spectacular 30-yarder was enough to seal the points at a freezing cold Bloomfield Road.
Luton created a number of good chances in the first half.
Target man Steve Howard had a header brilliantly saved by Blackpool keeper Brad Jones and minutes later Howard was unlucky again as another header went just wide of the post.
Blackpool's best moments saw Mike Sheron and 20-goal top scorer Scott Taylor narrowly fail to get on the end of dangerous crosses.
Luton kept on pressing forward and were rewarded when Robinson finished a neat move by turning and lobbing Jones ten minutes before the interval.
Minutes later Blackpool could consider themselves unlucky when Sheron's goal bound effort struck the bar.
The second half saw Blackpool up the tempo and they began to dominate proceedings but all too often their final ball was lacking as Luton's defence held firm.
First, Taylor saw his fierce low shot saved by Hatters keeper Marlon Beresford, who was again alert minutes later to stop on-loan Leeds forward Simon Johnson's rasping shot.
It was the impressive Johnson who had Blackpool's best and last real chance of the game, when his 30-yard piledriver flashed inches wide of Beresford's post.
Blackpool manager Steve McMahon was disappointed to see his side's recent revival come to an end, commenting: "I was disappointed with our first-half performance, especially the first 20 minutes, but we began to up the tempo and did create a few chances.
"Overall I am not too disappointed because we were hit by injuries to so many key players.
"It's like the walking wounded in our dressing room and our physio will be the busiest man at the club next week.
"Our run has come to an end, but now we need to get on another one to keep up with the top six." Former Blackpool striker Mike Newell was delighted with his side's performance, adding: "We played well, created a lot of chances and it was a fantastic goal to win the game."
