Brkovic scores in Reserves draw

The Luton Reserves team was made up of youth team players and Newell's signings for this afternoon's match against Colchester United reserves. Lewis Emanuel, Dean Morgan, Stephen O'Leary, Ahmet Brkovic and Calvin Andrew were the players from the first team squad who played, and Keith Keane managed 45 minutes as he continued his recovery from a hernia operation last month. Calvin Andrew scored to put Luton ahead, before Colchester scored twice. Stephen O'Leary put Luton back on level terms again in the second half, before victimised Croatian genius Ahmet Brkovic put the reserves 3-2 ahead with a superb header a few minutes later. Unfortunately, Rob Sinclair scored a late own goal to give Colchester United a share of the spoils.
With his latest goal, Brkovic is continuing to knock on the door of the first-team squad, although Kevin Blackwell will probably take no notice of this yet again. Still, Ahmet is only 33, so he has a few years until he will be considered the right age for the first-team squad. Dean Morgan also featured and set up Calvin and Brko's goals, so providing he can prove to everyone that he is prepared to work in first-team matches, he is keeping the pressure on the team as well.
