According to Football League regulations, a club in administration is subject to a player registration embargo. In basic terms, this means that we are unable to extend the loan deal of Marc Wilson for another month, so Wilson has returned to Portsmouth. The 20-year old featured in four matches for Luton out of which Luton won one, drew two and lost the last match against Cheltenham. In his very short time at Luton, Wilson did a decent job in midfield for the club - he played his part in a five man midfield for most of his matches that was largely effective in getting Luton results. However, he didn't really shine in a team that is struggling near the foot of the table, even without the ten point deduction, and his departure is unlikely to upset too many Luton fans too much. Although the main worry with Wilson's departure is that it leaves a space in the midfield free for Hutchison, Hutchinson or Paul McVeigh, unless O'Leary makes it into Blackwell's good books soon. Thanks for your efforts Marc Wilson, all the best for your football career in the future.
In other news, David Edwards has recently been heavily linked with a move to Nottingham Forest in the press. According to the Forest chief executive David Arthur, Luton have circulated the names of players who would be available, and Forest have enquired about Edwards. However, the statement that the club have circulated players names has been denied by the adminstrator Brendan Guilfoyle. According to the administrator, there have been two offers for players, and both have apparently been derisory, so there should be no transfer yet at least. One other worrying factor with the possible departure of Edwards is again that there will be spaces left in the midfield for Hutchison, Hutchinson or Paul McVeigh, which won't be good news. Even if the recent offers for players have been derisory, it is unlikely that interest will fade in players such as Edwards, Bell etc, so we will have to brace ourselves for more rumours in the coming weeks.
