Chris Coyne has also surprisingly had interest shown in him. The Luton captain, and a player who has witnessed two promotions and one relegation with the Hatters, has been the subject of a bid believed to be around £300,000 from struggling Champinship side Colchester United. The bid has been rejected by Kevin Blackwell, who has also slammed the Mickey Mouse bids that have been made by clubs for Luton players. Chris Coyne has also allegedly come out and said that he doesn't want to leave Luton, despite increasing uncertainty over the payment of wages. Luton have already lost consistent centre-back Fojut after he returned to Bolton, the last thing we need is another one departing, so nice one Coyney. Hopefully the administrator will try and get rid of midfielders rather than central defenders, as we actually have cover in midfield.
As well as the usual rumours surrounding Bell, Brill, Edwards and Spring, the administrator Brendan Guilfoyle has said that we may need to sell players after the FA Cup match against Liverpool on Sunday.
"I have seen one group of potential purchasers and invited them to fund the club for January and they have yet to answer and I am on the way to talk to another.
"But after the Liverpool game, if there is no funding, then I will have to get busy in the transfer market.
"We're keen to ensure that we get proper values for those players we decide to sell but it's an imperative now. I have to have funding and the arrangement I had with the chairman has now expired so it's up to the preferred bidders now.
"If they want to buy the club then they will have to fund the running of the club immediately otherwise we can't go forward.
"I can't take chances on the future of this club, I have to secure it and that is more important than the future of individual players.
"The club will be active in selling players in the transfer window but not to the extent that they became emaciated.
"But we will be fielding a team on Sunday which will provide tough opposition for Liverpool."
So the main transfer activity will have to wait until after the match on Sunday, so we can only hope that funding can be secured as soon as possible.
