Mike Newell has been named as the LMA League One manager of the year after steering Luton to the Championship this season. The Hatters won the league by 12 points this season, scored the most goals, let in the least goals, lost only six games and won 29 games on the road to the title, and all this was down to Newell.
It's good to see Newell's achievement appreciated, as most of the talk on League One seems to have been on Hell City's second successive 2nd place finish. Newell apparently narrowly edged out Peter Failure to pick up the award. David Moyes of Everton picked up the main prize, with Mick McCarthy winning the Championship accolade (narrowly beating Joe Kinnear and Ray Lewington) and Steve Tilson picking up the League Two award.
