Luton legend and ex-assistant manager Mick Harford has been appointed as the new manager of Rotherham United. Mick takes over from caretaker boss Alan Knill, who took charge when Ronnie Moore was sacked earlier in the year.
Rotherham is Harford's fourth club this year. He started the season with Luton, and helped the club win 10 of their first 12 games. He then moved on to Nottingham Forest, where he assisted Joe Kinnear in helping to take Nottingham Forest into League One. Kinnear was sacked at the end of last year, leaving Mick in control of the club as caretaker manager until Gary Megson was appointed as manager, and Harford left. He then joined Swindon as assistant to Andy King, and he helped King steer Swindon towards the play-offs. He also returned to Kenilworth Road with Swindon in March, and Mick got a good reception from the Luton fans. Luton won 3-1 in that game. Earlier today, Mick left Swindon Town to take over at Rotherham United. Mick has been given a two-year contract with the Millers, who were relegated last Tuesday by Ipswich at Portman Road. His aim will be to take Rotherham United back up from League One next season. He will also be working with ex-Hatters Paul McLaren and Tony Thorpe this season, who are both currently at Rotherham.
