Rowan Vine, who is 25 years old, joined QPR earlier this season, initially on loan from Birmingham City but on a permanent deal in the January transfer window. He has scored seven goals for QPR this season, after a disappointing spell with Birmingham where he scored just once. His move to QPR is believed to have been a factor in QPR's rise up the Championship table and move away from relegation danger.
Before leaving Kenilworth Road for Birmingham in January 2007 for £2.5million, Vine had been a part of the Luton side that won promotion from League One in 2004-05, being on loan from Portsmouth, and scored nine goals in the process, which along with goals from Howard, Nicholls and Brkovic, played a key part in promotion that season. Our first season in the Championship saw Vine struggle with injury problems, and the form of hotshot Warren Feeney kept him out of the side. Nevertheless, he still managed to score 10 times in 22 starts towards the end of the season.
After the departure of Steve Howard to Derby in 2006, Vine became the key goalscorer in the team, and the key player in many ways. He scored 14 times for Luton between August 2006 and January 2007 before being transferred to Birmingham in the January transfer window, a move which certainly contributed greatly to the spiral towards relegation.
Good luck in the recovery from your injury Rowan.
