Carr, who plays for Newcastle United, picked up a thigh injury in training with Ireland and Steve Staunton has opted for Luton-born Foley as a replacement. Foley has made two appearances for the Ireland U-21 and the Irish B side this season. He has been struggling himself with injuries lately like every other Luton player, so he will undoubtedly pick up an injury for Ireland to add to the ever growing list of Luton players out.
Foley may be given a chance for Ireland in the Euro 2008 qualifying match against the mighty San Marino on Wednesday. However, Liverpool defender Steve Finnan will probably be given the nod over Foley.
