Brill performance not enough for Blackwell?

Alnwick, 20, started his career at Sunderland, where he played 22 games in total for Sunderland, keeping former Luton keeper Kelvin Davis out of the team along the way. His form for Sunderland earned him a move to Tottenham for £900,000 in January of this year, which is a startling amount for a keeper so young. Alnwick hasn't actually played for Tottenham yet, and his last first team game was in October 2006 when Sunderland lost 4-1 at Preston. So Alnwick has probably only been brought in to gain some first-team experience so that he can play for Tottenham in the future, so good luck to him. Alnwick has arrived for three months.
Although Alnwick is possibly one of the most promising keepers in the country at the moment, many people may question why Blackwell has signed Alnwick. Cardiff keeper David Forde went back to Cardiff this week without really impressing anyone, and after Brill's superb performance in the cup win against Charlton on Tuesday, many people were asking why we wasted our time with David Forde when Brill was clearly a better keeper. Now though, Blackwell has signed another keeper to play instead of young Brill, so that Deano can play a few more matches for the reserves and gain little match experience. Obviously Brill's performance on Tuesday wasn't good enough for Blackwell. Surely we would have been better off signing a player on loan in a position where we actually need someone. He hasn't been signed as cover either, because Kevin Blackwell plays no keeper on the bench and Brill isn't injured. On the plus side, Alnwick is an England U-21 keeper and probably an excellent signing, so we can only hope that Blackwell knows what he is doing. Just don't bring Forde back Kevin, because Brill is clearly better than him.
